Beechmountain Pottery is located in the beautiful Gold Coast Hinterland. Approximately one hour south of Brisbane, in Queensland , Australia. Jon and Judy Durand started Beechmountain Pottery when they came to the mountain village of Beechmont in 1980.

Jon designed our current water filter systems in 1995. This product has brought the highest level of personal and customer satisfaction in our career as manufacturers of pottery, which started in 1974.
Matter of fact we were so pleased with them we put our family name on them!

By combining the 4 elements of Earth, Air, Fire and Water we produce a large range of water systems and functional pottery. Used since the late Stone Age, pottery has proven to be an ideal material for cooking and storing which does not leave unwanted chemicals or metals in the food. We believe stoneware is the perfect non-toxic material for filtering and storing your drinking water.

We "high fire" all of our water systems in our kiln to a temperature of approximately 1280 degrees centigrade. Each system is hand made and hand decorated which means there will be a slight variation in size, colour, design and shape which ensures each system is uniquely individual!

Our workshop and gallery are located at 32 Jardine Road on the beautiful Beechmont Plateau, approximately forty minutes from the beaches of the Gold Coast and a little over an hour from Brisbane.

At our gallery you will see filters from our Standard Range as well as a selection of Limited Edition Special Systems, and you may even be able to save yourself some money by choosing from a selection of "factory seconds".

At the top of our road you can see the views out over the Gold Coast.

Coming down the road to the pottey you can see Mt Warning in the distance.

Meet Bruce Clark, he is a part of our team making the Durand Water Filters. He also uses our workshop to create his own beautiful art pieces.

Meet Beth Abbot Beth has been part of our team at Beechmountain Pottery for as long as we have been here, and has become a part of "our family". Beth has produced some of our most popular designs, such as the "Black Bamboo" and "Red Rooster" ... as well as hand painting some of our favourite Limited Edition pieces.

Beth and her husband Wayne create these almost living, and "oh so cute" clay figurines at their own mountain retreat, "Alicorn Pottery"

Our Workshop

If you are lucky, and your timing is right, you will perhaps see our huge kiln in action, or our potters hard at work on "the wheel"

This is our kiln while it is being "fired". Water systems will be fresh out of the oven soon.

The systems have just come out of the kiln and are now bisque fired (their first firing).

Grant is dipping one of the water systems in the glaze before it goes into the kiln to be fired.

Beth is painting one of our water systems.

This is Rahni. (Rahni belongs to Grant and Debbie). As you can see Rahni is a big help around the pottery.

And this is Abbey. (Abbey belongs to Jon and Judy) As you can see Abbey is a big help too.
